2.nd HDD SATA ultrabay adapter is not recognized by TP w530 / Windows 7

2013-11-10, 20:32 PM

Hi to all!

I've purchased a 2nd SATA HDDultrabay adapter for my ThinkPad w530 and, but it does not work with any of my two Hitachi HDD (100 GB and 500 GB, HDD-s themselves is 100% OK). Nothing happens at all when I insert a HDD into the ultrabay, that means not only my Windows 7 does not display this HDD in the avaliable drives list under Disk Management console nor under Device Manager -> Disk Drives, but I don't myself hear any noise of working HDD's spindel etc.

What could be the reason? I've searched trhough this forum and it seems, that the most probable cause of the issue is the option "Automatic optical drive power off” enabled. So I tried to disable it according to the short manual found here or here for TP 410. But I've met the fact, that Lenovo's Power Manager at my w530 machine seems not to be the same as at TP 410, to be more specific, I could not find this option "Automatic optical drive power off" in the diaog Power Plan -> Energy Saver -> System Settings (where it should reside according to the manual) :smileysurprised: I've searhed for this option in other sections too, but have not found.

I also tried to view something in BIOS, but I'm not sure, where and what to look for, so I am simply unable to interpet what I see there in BIOS.

P.S.

The thing which draws my attantion is the left edge of the adapter. As one can see, the original utlrabay DVD has a black plastic "horn" in the center on its left edge and some HDD ultrabay adapters has the same.  But some other adapters, including this one I've purchased, have no this "horn" (see the picture below). Can it the be a problem?
