8 GB of RAM

in the specs of the W 700, lenovo proudly anounce "up to 8 GB of RAM".

 

Anybody succeded to load 8 GB of RAM on the W 700 (Vista Business 64 bit)?

My cousin has one and he got 8 gig of ram, but the price of these rams are ridiciously high when he bought them, it costs like 1200 USD for the upgrade from 4 gig to 8 gig......... it should be cheaper now.........

You can get 8 GB for 1000 USD from Crucial and I guess it'll take quite some time until the prices drop significantly.

I have 8 gig of the Crucial memory in a W500 running Vista Business 64. As I am often running multiple apps that do lots of math processing this upgrade made a nice improvement. Expensive, but the value depends on what you do with the laptop.

I USE IT FOR TOOL DESIGN (USING SOLIDWORKS BY SYSTEMATICS) .

 

Anybody tryed using the unpaired 6 GB option ?

 

If yes did u see a substantial diference between the 6 & the 8 options ?

I'm using 6GB with my Vista x64 W700, using the 2GB that came with system, and 4GB module from Crucial.  The performance is great.  5.8 for the memory test of the Windows Experience Index was a 5.9 when run with 2x2GB modules.

 

That boost 8GB would give me is small, and just not affordable yet.
