Any pros/cons for buying P73 vs. P17

2020-08-03, 18:03 PM

Have they made any improvements to the 4K display between the P73 and the P17?

I currently use a P70 and I'm considering purchasing a P17 and now I'm wondering if I should just buy a P73 instead, especially considering some of the rumored storage limitations with the P17.

What are the pros and cons of buying a P73 over a P17 and vice versa?

The systems reference was just published and that's all I can see.  When I look at the P73 vs. P17, the 4k panels are described as follows"

P73:

 UHD (3840x2160) Dolby Vision HDR WVA Anti-glare 400 nits 16:9 1000:1 100% 170°

P17:

UHD (3840x2160) Dolby Vision, HDR 400 WVA Anti-glare - 500 nits 16:9 1500:1 100% Adobe 178°

It looks like the P17 has a brighter (500 nit vs. 400 nit) screen with a higher contrast ratio (1500:1 vs. 1000:1) and a wider viewing angle (178 vs. 170 degrees)

Under storage, the P73 says:

Up to 3 drives (two M.2 SSD and one HDD), supports single sided M.2 2280 drives only

P17 says:

Up to two M.2 2280 SSD, PCIe NVMe, 256GB / 512GB / 1TB / 2TB each

Since the P17 doesn't say single-side only, a 2-sided drive MAY fit.  I would need to see one to be sure.

I have never seen the machines so I can give no more insight.  I hope that helps.
