2019-09-07, 17:54 PM

After updateng to the latest display driver (26.21.14.3140), there are BSODs every now and then.

BSOD is reported as related to dxgmms2.sys.

Always while trying to start a movie on Netflix (external monitor).

I have similar issue.

Sometimes I played Netflix, HD audio driver crashed and every audio starts lagging.

Also, dxgmms2.sys causes BSOD time to time, but not frequent.

Lenovo keeps on shooting out buggy software, and corrections (if any) take for ever.

At least an aknowledgement would be nice :smileymad:

The most annoying part is you should never use any graphic driver except for lenovo's release.

I don't know whether you downloaded from Nvidia's website (which is not recommanded) or lenovo's.

Nvidia's version doesn't match the P52's P3200 max-q's profile(voltage, power, etc), so BSOD is inevitable.

So lenovo's version is the only option, however it has slow update cycle and even buggy.

For other drivers, windows 10 1903 perfectly provide automatical update so we don't have to download them from lenovo.

Currently on Lenovo latest drivers (which by the way do not seem to follow the published Nvidia drivers coding scheme- no 431.40 in Nvidia).

Both Intel and Nvidia components are lacking considerably to the OEM published versions.

Alternatively look at this

Have not tried this method still myself.

Hi!

I can understand your frustration, but Lenovo does not write the drivers. nVidia and Intel do. So, unless you open a ticket with Lenovo, nVidia and Intel won't be aware of the issue. Testing can find gross problems, but not all corner issues.

Now, mobile parts are provided by nVidia and Intel with reference drivers. That means they come with default settings possibly not appropriate with your thermal and power solutions. That creates errors and crashes. So, Lenovo takes the drivers from nVidia and Intel, customize those settings for what your machine needs, and publishes it. You find it slow, well, feel free to try to do it better than they are, for all the machines they support, and I will applaud. It's hard, you are warned!

If you are serious about helping finding the cause of your crashes, open a ticket! The squeaky wheel gets the oil? Otherwise, cross your fingers that they fix the issue by chance or by following someone else's report...

I'm sorry if my post does not help, but I read nothing in this thread that would help find the cause. From the filename you cite in the title, I would think it's related to DirectX. Get the error numbers in the Windows logs, provide your system info, software running, game you are trying to play, patch levels, so someone can copy your setup and reproduce the issue.

Also, you should mention what you have connected to your machine, as well as if the software versions they are running. There are microcontrollers everywhere nowadays, and a screen can have bugs too...

Martin

So according to your first two paragraphs, they do rewrite/recompile the reference drivers, to publish the versions suitable for the Lenovo devices.

When these drivers do not work as expected on Lenovo machines, who is to be called then?

"open a ticket"

where and how? with local "service providers"? if you go through all the pages here, count resolved software issues through this channel. And then count also the horror stories for hardware resolutions.

Lenovo should be looking in these forum, where people come for support. And provide a way for users to come in direct contact with Lenovo support for software problems.

"If you are serious about helping finding the cause of your crashes, .."

No I am here for fun:smileymad: I am serious for finding a solution...If I could find the real cause, I would be working for Lenovo, and not buying from them.

Details of the problem are in the OP and my signature. If any Lenovo people need more details, would be happy to offer (if I can).

But I do not see anybody asking; only silence.

"I'm sorry if my post does not help, but I read nothing in this thread .."

So why posting?

If you are somehow affiliated to Lenovo, just ask directly what more details you would need.
