Hello,

I have some mechanical spray, should I still use isopropryl alcohol (is there a specific percentage)?

Take Care,

Hi!

I would clean the golden contacts on the edge of the memory card that goes in the connector using a swab and isopropyl alcohol, and reinsert the card 3 times to 'exercise' the connector.

I would only use isopropyl alcohol(IPA) 70%+ that doesn't have other ingredients so it doesn't leave a residue. I use 90% IPA for my electronic cleaning.

I like shellac thinner because it has no water (denatured alcohol)

Hello,

I cleaned the golden connector of the DIMM circuit boards (there were 2 boards), and I ran a MemTest86, and there were no errors! However, I did the Lenovo Diagnostics for the Extended Memory Test and it failed the Stop Block move test.

I also tried to get to the login screen, but there was a BSOD. The computer sometimes force shut down, restarts, then shut down maybe 1 second later, then restart (this is not a new issue). So, there are no new issues.

From,

Hyena

Hi Hyena, Can you try with only one memory DIMM at a time? If all the memory tests pass on one but not the other, you found the problem! Martin

Hello,

Should I test each one with both tests?

Thank you,

Hi! Yes, test each one with any test that previously failed, one by one. Then reinstall them all and test again. Martin

Yes, clean contact could resolve the issue. I use Stabilant 22 on all my contacts (SIMM, DIMM, HD,, USB etc). It protects against arcing over time, and the pluronic also serves to clean the contacts and is residual, so as to serve as a barrier to oxigen oxidation..

However, reading about the mem errors you get, I just would replace the memory.

There could also be a heat issue.  Make sure you vacuum or blow out the fan intake and exhaust ports... get all that dust off.  Dust is an insulator, and heat the enemy of solid state devices.

Hello,

I tested each DIMM with the MemTest86 and Memory - Extended Test from Lenovo Diagnostics (including the Bit Fade Test), and strangely, each DIMM passed both tests.

Take care,

Hyena
