Best battery settings Thinkpad P40 Yoga

2018-06-17, 0:18 AM

Hi,

For some whatever reason, my power gauge goes from 0 to 100% (finally), but, even with the lowest power consumption settings, I don't get more than 1h40m of battery life.

Any suggestions?

Go to an elevated command prompt, unplug the AC, and run "powercfg /energy" without quotes. See what the output report says.

On one hand, your capacity is fairly low, which means the battery has deteriorated quite rapidly.

Was your system at idle or near idle when you took the powercfg /energy trace? If so, an average CPU usage of 7.62% is pretty high for only background tasks.

Yes, I closed everything that was open (including the browser). And basically just let it sit there... It's a work only laptop, so there's not even that much installed to begin with.

It has little more than a year since I bought it straight from lenovo uk, and the battery performance was never stellar, specially compared to my old x220t. But I thought this was mostly related with the unnacurate way that it was gauging the threshold and not letting it go to the 100% charge with very inconsistent values (no matter what settings I used).

Beggining to consider I actually have a faulty device...

Good day.

If your machine is under 1 year old (standard battery warranty length), I would suggest that you contact Service/Support to discuss a battery replacement options.

Regards.

If it was near idle, an average CPU usage of 7-8% over a minute isn't very normal. In general, your total CPU consumption should be close to 0-2% at idle.

Scrolling down in the energy report, it should tell you which processes are consuming excessive CPU time at idle. You can also open up Task Manager, go to the Details tab, and sort by CPU usage to find high CPU processes.

Sorry for the late reply, had a bit of a work influx that stole most of my time...

In any case, here are the results of the system analysis, in five screenshots. Thank you so much for your time!!
