The response is very telling of how Lenovo thinks about its customers.

 

It really doesn't matter how Lenovo "intends" for customers to use their product. It's a PC, and if it's technically capable of running a software, or interfacing with a hardware (whether it's via USB or M.2), then it's the customer's choice to do so or not. No one is asking Lenovo to provide technical support for devices that aren't officially supported; but at the same time, no one gives Lenovo the authority to forbid users from connecting devices that aren't "authorized".

 

Obviously no one on this form has any power to change things; I can only assume it's a (misguided) marketing decision from high up. And customers can only draw their own conclusions for future purchases.
