Brand New P15v BSOD - Recovery Media unable to download

Hi all,

 

I've recently been sent a new P15V (20TQ) to setup. Installed all firmware updates using Vantage fine, rebooted no issues. Installed the latest Windows Updates (2004) and hit BSOD. Machine won't boot with a variety of Windows 10 errors shown on screen "IRQL NOT EQUAL" "SYSTEM EXCEPTION"... etc etc...I've done the Windows Reset this PC various times along with all the usual safe mode etc to no avail.

 

So I'd like to recover with the Recovery Media however this fails at 89% (tried on multiple machines) with the same error "Validation Failed Recovery File ZRECAG258.IMZ is invalid". This is during the download stage of the recovery media (see image).

 

 

I'm looking for options here for recovery... ideally, for Lenovo to sort the issue with the file below to allow me download it.

Thanks for reporting the issue, I have passed your report on to the appropriate team to investigate and fix but am currently unable to advise how long that should take.  Your alternatives are to contact support and request they send you recovery media which will likely take a couple of days not including the impending weekend or, as you have another system on hand, you could download your version of Windows 10 from Microsoft and install that followed by drivers from the product support page or by using Lenovo Vantage.

Thanks, I did consider the Windows 10 direct option but was unsure of whether it would complain about a Windows 10 product key code - the P15V came with Windows 10 licensed. Will I need to input a product key when using the Windows 10 option?

Hello,

 

No, you shouldn't experience any issues with a direct install, the Windows 10 license is embedded in the BIOS as a part of the system and will be picked up automatically.

Ace, downloading it now. Is there any word from Lenovo about this latest batch of Windows Updates causing BSOD on Lenovo? My fix was to download Windows 10 separately and then reapply the Lenovo Vantage software.

Is yours a new machine? If in use then you may need to restore from backup.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean. How am I supposed to reset? I need the recovery media for it, and the problem is that I cannot create the recovery files/media, because of this issue: "Validation Failed Recovery File ZRECAG258.IMZ is invalid"

Yes, I agree. The fact that the Lenovo Recovery Media doesn't download is something for Lenovo to resolve.

If you have access to another machine though, one that you can use to download the Windows 10 media (link above) then you can create a bootable USB key, use it to install Windows on the machine and then install Lenovo Vantage.
