Considerations while upgrading P50 RAM?

2018-11-02, 12:46 PM

I'm writing to ask about the considerations I'd have to make in order to determine which RAM modules to choose for upgrading my P50 RAM.

Ideally I'd want to upgrade with 2x 16 GB, however, I'm not sure under which conditions this could be accomplished, and which considerations I'd have to make when choosing the right ones to buy.

How can I determine whether a RAM module is compatible with the P50?

As in, size/type, DDR4, frequency, etc?

Ideally I'd want to know under which conditions I can be sure that a certain module will be compatible with the P50 Laptop.

Thank you for your attention!

Hi Max,

Depending on the model, if your machine has less than 32GB RAM, most likely the sockets under the back cover (see drawing) are empty and you could install the two new sticks there.

The type and speed officially supported is a DDR4 SO-DIMM 2133MHz DDR4.

One of the 16GB modules offered is Lenovo FRU 01AG713 wich is (among others) a Samsung M471A2K43BB1-CRC.
