Display doesn't wake when turned off.

2016-06-26, 13:33 PM

In the standard power plans, the screen display usually turns off completely after a certain period of inactivity. This happened minutes ago. I left my laptop inactive, not sleep, just inactive. Then when I returned to it, and swiped the touchpad, the display doesn't come back on. I've tried pressing the keys pressing the power buttons, none of them turned the screen back on. Sort of like a black screen of death. Nothing I press on the keyboard did anything. So i had to force shut down the computer.

This never happened before. It's the first time. I use a Lenovo Thinkpad W541 by the way. Been using it for 1 year or so. My graphics drivers are all up to date. And if it is any help, I had just updated Lenovo PM device the very day this happened. Anyone experienced this issue before?

I am in warranty. New lenovo thinkpad P50. Just bought 2 months ago.

Started to happen in last few days.

So I leave a laptop working and go out. BTW laptop is conected to 2 external monitors. Come back in an hour and when click on mouse 2 external monitors are working but only laptop integrated monitor can not wake upo. So I have to close laptop. Wait 2 mins. Open laptop and then I am able to log in.

With mine I could not power it on completely without it cutting off so I called Lenovo (mine has an extended warrenty) and the tech had me try one thing, then told me I needed a new system board. I have a W541 so I sent it in and they replaced it and I just got it back.

Works fine now.
