Dual-Boot / Dual-NVME Drives Thinkpad P73

2020-03-23, 21:09 PM

I've ordered P73 with a single nvme drive pre-installed with Windows. My plan is to install a samsung evo 970 plus into the second nvme slot and install my Linux OS for work. From the User Manual on CRU replacements, it seems like I should be able to just drop the nvme drive into the empty slot. Does anybody know if I actually should be using a specific heat-pad (or just seperation pad), from looking at forums on older models it seems like they use to have a grease-pad of sorts that came with a storage kit or something.

I'm grateful for any insights or advice

I have a P72 and installed a second NVMe without a pad.  I would check your existing NVMe and see if there is some sort of shielding or pad there and, if not, then you should be okay without one for the second install.

Kind regards,
