Fn and F5 do not bring up wireless settings-what do I need to Install?

2012-08-02, 14:22 PM

Installed clean Windows 7 to a W500 4058CTO Thinkpad.  Installed Power Manager and graphics drivers to get Switchable Graphics.  Tried using Fn + F5 to get wireless options screen.  Nothing happens.  What do I have to do to get this function working.  Am operating wireless right now so I know the wireless adapter works.  When finalizing the Win7 install got a prompt to select from various wireless signals one of which is my router.  So I know i can receive multiple signals.

Need to access other signals when I am mobile.  How do I fix this?

You have to install the "Hotkey Features Integration" and "ThinkVantage Communications Utility".

Hotkey Features Integration:

ThinkVantage Communications Utility

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS015009

You can find all the drivers for W500 here:

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&DocID=HT035871

Or you can install Lenovo System Update to install all the required drivers which will save you a lot of time and work:

I'm not sure if Communication Utility is required for Fn-F5 to work, but believe it's required for other OSD features.

hello hgkaroley,

gan is correct with these drivers,

But might I suggest trying to update your Power Manager Driver.

If you don't have it in stalled you can Download it from here

A lot of times, the power manager carries items with it that are needed for other programs, that are from Lenovo, to fully function.

Let me know how it goes.

Alex

Thanks for the info.  I did download the drivers and now the Fn + F5 works.  Have latest Power Management driver as I needed that to support Switchable Graphics.
