Forced Windows 10 Update 1803 > 1909 problem automatic log-out

2020-05-01, 8:25 AM

Hello community,

Windows wants me to update my system 10.0.17134 / 1803 and everytime it's causing a major problem: after updating successfully I see the login screen > log-in > I see my desktop and suddenly the display starts to flicker, an empty black window popping up while task bar is visible and after few seconds I'm logged out. If I try to login again, the same thing will happen. I rolled back the update everytime it appeared but now 1803 is at its end of service as far as i understand so i want to move forward. What can i do? Maybe you can help!

Thanks

I updated once again, same problems as before. After doing research and trying various things with no effect, I deactivated one of both graphics adapters and -surprise- Lenovos own Intel HD Graphics P530 caused the log-out. It works fine now without that card activated. I'll activate it again in future after checking for updates.

HOW TO: booted in safe mode > device manager > graphics adapter > Intel HD Graphics P530 > right click & deactivate > restart

Hello,

My guess would be that there is a program installed on the ThinkPad P50 which might be incompatible with Windows 10 Version 1909.  Upgrading it to the latest version might solve the problem.

Hello,

Are there any third-party (non-Microsoft, non-Lenovo) programs on the system which might operate at a low-level within the operating system, such as security software, backup software, disk imaging software software, defragmentation software and so forth?  If so, try uninstalling them one-by-one until you find the program.  Be sure to back up the settings and your license information so you can reinstall it when the upgrade is completed.
