Re: Help W500 graphics card question

Netjet- to answer your refresh rate question:

The thinkpad LCD can not do more than 60hz, if you have a monitor that does you can enable it and then change the setting in CCC.  It has to be set in extended mode and not cloned with the thinkpad screen. Please start a new post if you cant get it working an PM me.

Very interesting:  With the original BIOS, and the new BIOS, using drivers from the ATI website, my 3dmark06 score was a consistent 3971.  I changed to the Lenovo drivers, as I got an instant BSOD on starting any openGL application after the BIOS update.  Now my 3dmark06 score has fallen to 3901.  Strange.  Real performance doesn't seem any worse, however.

 All,

Just to let you know that I've updated bios to1.19 and everything seems to be fine...
procedure order:
graphic driver update
restart
bios update via System update utility
restart, restart, restart (vista had some problems with drivers for both graphic cards but sorted it without my intervention)

now i can say thar OpenGL works (real view works in Solidworks 2008),

below is link to CCC screenshot...

it shows: Device ID 9591, SSID is 2126

Re: Help W500 graphics card question

My current set up is as follows:

Driver - v8.523-080808a-068239C-XP32-WHQL-Lenovo

BIOS - 1.15

When I look in that drivers .inf I find this line:   ATI Mobility FireGL V5700" = ati2mtag_M76, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9591&SUBSYS_211717AA

Does this mean If I update the BIOS which will change the SSID I will break the driver?

This driver does work with Solidworks but I am underwhelmed by the performance and some features do not work.
