How can I update ThinkPad W541 bios with dead battery or without battery

2020-04-12, 0:49 AM

Hello Team,

My battery got dead and I am running on directly on the charger and I want to update my laptop by the bios update utility refuses  to update even when I am plugged to AC and it required a charged battery.

it is a bit confusing to me since I am already plugged and for sure not planning to unplug the laptop during the update process.

Is there a way to force the update without a battery?

Hello,

Upgrading the BIOS requires having a charged battery in place.  This is to prevent the motherboard from being damaged if the AC power goes out during the update process.
