Installing Hyper-V on w540 with windows 10 breaks dual monitor display

2018-01-12, 8:47 AM

Dear Lenovo

This is a know problem with intel HD 4600 graphics driver

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYfeOnFZegI&feature=youtu.be

A recent update solves that problem.  https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27267/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-40-?product=81496

But only drivers modified by Lenovo works on ThinkPad laptops

Problem is that the most resent lenovo graphics driver has an outdated version of the intell Graphics driver.

https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/dk/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-w-series-laptops/thinkpad-w540/downloads

What should I do?

Hope to get some help

Try forcibly installing the driver using Have Disk:

Remember to make a restore point first in case things go awry.

Even if you uninstall driver, Windows 10 is known to keep a copy of old driver or download old driver again, once it'll have the possibility. OEM driver must be wiped before a generic driver could be installed. You can use DDU to remove all traces of driver and stop OS from re-downloading old driver.

After it, generic driver should install without a problem.

FWIW, I'd test to make sure the new one works before nuking the old ones.

Looks like Lenovo released an update for some ThinkPads but not W series. It wouldn't install for my W541. Anyone successfully resolve the issue?
