Re: Lenovo P50 - HDMI not working

My P50 is i7-6700HQ, M1000M, 64GB, Win 10 Enterprise 64bit.

From time to time, the HDMI port just won't recognize the external monitor.  It's just like there nothing connected to HDMI port.  The only way to fix it is to "load default settings" in BIOS (even though the previous settings were already "default").

Some other people can't even get it to work.  See https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/Lenovo-P50-HDMI-not-working/m-p/2264525#M55880

This is always reproducible.

Re: Lenovo P50 - HDMI not working

2016-02-17, 4:52 AM

After seeing this thread, I broke out a monoprice HDMI cable and connected it from my P50 (Windows 10 Pro) to my Dell U2415 monitor. The external display worked right away the first time, both in mirrored mode and extended desktop mode.

All I did was go into the NVIDIA Control Panel, click on "Set up multiple Displays" and I saw the "Dell U2415" was listed under the heading for Quadro M2000M. From there, I switched the input on the U2415 and the screen was mirrored.

To switch to extended desktop, I right clicked on the Windows 10 desktop and selected Display Settings. On this screen, if you click Detect then it comes back saying "Didn't detect another display". But if you go into the Multiple Displays drop-down box at the bottom of this menu and select "extend these displays", it does get extended across 2 monitors.

NVIDIA Driver Version is 10.18.13.5404.

I didn't do anything to the BIOS settings and I have never even entered the BIOS. The machine shipped with BIOS 1.15.

Note: Pressing Fn+F7 doesn't seem to do anything.

Thanks for the report.
Sadly it's not the case with me. What Windows version are you using?
I tried all drivers I could lay my hands on. The official lenovo drivers that were first installed, the ones from the p50 official support page, and the newest nvidia drivers. None worked. I can't see any extended displays, they are nowhere to be found. Not in Windows and not in the display's native control panel.

Re: Lenovo P50 - HDMI not working

Hi! same problem here. HDMI dead from first day. I work ok with MiniDisplayPort-HDMI adapter in my P50  i7-6700HQ M1000M 8G

Another problem is the cpu, does not reach the maximum speed, is always 2600 Mhz at 100% load when in other machines I saw this i7 at max is 3500 Mhz, making it much slower in video rendering.

I contacted Lenovo support, but no solutions yet.

I will not contribute intelligently to this. But I had the SAME issue and it was driving me crazy (as I use this for work and could not connect to projectors or TVs). So I tried it again today.

Sure enough it works as expected again. Needless to say, I tried two completely different cables, two different TVs and even a mini display to HDMI adapter. All worked...

Now the problem will be "hoping" it works somewhere else again, where it matters. As the connections today were only to my own home TV and projector...

Don't get it. But in a similar boat like everybody else.

P50, Xeon 1505, 64GB RAM, 1TB SSD, M2000M, Win 10 Pro.
