Lenovo P51 with Blackmagic Videoequipment: Dockingstation messes with Thunderbolt

2018-01-05, 14:51 PM

I have the following problem. I use a P51 (Windows 10, Adobe CC 2018) with Blackmagic Ultrastudio 4k an Blackmagic Multidock. If the workstation is pluged in to the ThinkPad 230W Workstation Dock and Thunderbolt is connected the computer wouldn't even start up. If Thunderbolt is connected (via Startech TB 3 -> TB 2 adaptor) after start up, the TB controler recognizes both devices. But the pluged in SSD-Drive (yes, they are formated) only appear in 1 out of 10 cases. Furthermore keybord and mouse often lose theire function.

If the machine is used without the dockingstation everything works just fine. But a dockingstation is due to the workflow necessairy. Why wouldn't work Thunderbolt and ThinkPad 230W Workstation Dock parallel?
