Low contrast, difficult to read text P53 with 4K IPS screen

2020-09-12, 7:37 AM

I just wanted to relay my experience briefly in case anyone else has a similar problem.

I was encountering some disconcerting issues with low contrast text, unsharpness and patchy screen brightness anomalies on the supplied 4K IPS screen. This problem went away by using 'discrete graphics' option in the BIOS. When using the Intel graphics card, however, the problem recurred. I tried disabling the adaptive contrast settings in the Intel Command Center (power settings) to no avail. The registry hack to disable this setting did not exist either.

The problem was solved after I downloaded and installed the newest beta driver from the Intel website, overwriting Lenovo's implementation of the driver. If anyone else experiences this issue you can try the driver from Intel's website.
