P14s Wifi keeps disconnecting Intel WiFi 6 AX200

Dear all,

 

I have just purchased a brand new P14s.

It is equipped with the Intel WiFi 6 AX200.

 

Home now I have problems with the WiFi connection. Connection is not stable, it keeps disconnecting and does not reconnect automatically. This only happens to my home wifi. Other WiFis (e.g., phone hotspot, open access wifis, friend's wifi) cause no problems. The wifi which causes problems on my thinkpad does  not cause problems on any other device - internet is stable there. 

I have rechecked updates, deinstalled, reinstalled drivers, chose most quiet channel. Neither windows, nor hardware scan are providing any help.

 

Am I missing something?

Welcome to the Community

 

If it works elsewhere, but not on your home network, it's probably something between your router and the computer. Just because other devices work doesn't rule out the router as those devices likely don't have identical WiFi cards, software and other hardware. 

 

Start by making sure your router has the latest firmware available to it and that the band and protocols (802.11xx) match. See my post on Qualcomm solutions (a lot of it applies no matter the brand).

Thank you for your response.

 

I have tried to follow your steps, but I cannot change power option settings regarding my wifi card (please see screenshot attached, sorry - it's in German but I think it gets clear that there is no option for the wifi card).

 

Problems are still occurring with only this wifi.

You might have to use a registry hack to get those settings back. What's the make and model of your router?

Did the registry hack as described, still no power settings (see screenshots).I am using Plusnet 2704N Router - ADSL.Thanks again for all the support.

I'd look into a new router. If I read the specs correctly, this is an 802.11n router that only works on the 2.4Ghz band, which is the most crowded and susceptible to interference. You have a Ferrari of a computer running on a dirt road. Since that router came out in 2015, it probably doesn't know what to do with the power-saving features on Windows 10 and today's WiFi chips. I had fits with a Trendnet router from 2014. Getting a newer router solved all of the disconnection issues I wasn't able to fix through the steps I outlined.

:D yeah, it's mainly a work computer so I needed the ferrari - I like that description. 

 

thanks anyhow for the help. I guess I will have to look into a new router.

I have the same issue, exactly as described except that I have an Asus RT-AX88U router with two RT-AX58U nodes (hardwired to the router). In keeping with the Ferrari analogy, I'd think this set up is roughly equivalent to wide, straight autobahn, newly paved! We are using several other wifi 5 devices (including ThinkPads) and a couple of iPhones with wifi 6, none of them are having wifi problems. I checked that the P14s (it's the AMD Ryzen 7 Pro version) is up to date and the Asus units have the latest firmware. Any pearls of wisdom would be much appreciated.

Did you go through all the steps I linked, above? Do you have the same SSID for both bands? If so, change that so the computer can only use 5Ghz.
