P17 RAM Upgrade

2021-03-02, 4:36 AM

Would either of these be suitable memory upgrades for a P17?

Hynix 32GB DDR4 PC4-25600 3200MHz 260-Pin SODIMM ram memory

Samsung 32GB DDR4 PC4-25600 3200MHZ 260 Pin SODIMM 1.2V CL 22 laptop ram memory module

I can edit to include URLs if it's allowed to link the store, but there isn't much other info in the descriptions.

Thanks.

I am assuming that you currently do not have ECC memory.  I would expect either would work.

Oh yeah it's for a hypothetical laptop purchase, but should have said it'd be a core i9 CPU so memory is non-ECC.

Thanks.

When buying non-Lenovo-branded RAM, always confirm a seller's return policy.  After changing RAM, the first boot can take a long time (minutes as opposed to seconds) , as slots are dynamically configured.  I turn it on and go get a cup of coffee

Excellent advice x2, I will do both of those things and try not to worry.
