P50 20en001SUS E3-1505M v5 Turbo Issue

2017-05-31, 19:50 PM

I recently switched from a i7-6820 to the Xeon based and  was having performance issues, so I downloaded the Intel XTU utility.

I benchmark the i7 machine and it comes in higher using CPUZ or XTU

I checked the Bios Settings and they are similar

CPU Cores MultiProc and Hyper Threading is enabled on both

Virtulization is asa well.

I am on 1.39 on both machines.  (well I tried updating to 1.40 on the Xeon and no help as it is not designed to address that issue)

any ideas would be helpful. Xeon has windows 10 so there is no Lenovo Power Manager to enable Turbo Boost.

I have never been able do use benchmark tools to show significant improvements with xeon processors over I7 on any machine.  I believe the big advantage of xeon processors is its ability to support ECC memory.

Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology (TBMT) 3.0 is a feature of Intel Core i7 CPUss to allow overclocking of the best performing core.  It is unavailable on Intel Xeon CPUs, since those do not support overclocking (they are intended for servers and workstations where stability requirements are a precedent over raw speed).
