Tell me about it. They just don't wanna admit their fault. I never had any laptop cracks after 5 months, not even the cheapest ones. Palmrest costs close to $300 on IBM parts site. I don't know whether they altered the parts so it wont crack again.

The worst part to me is that customer service has become literally non-existent in Lenovo...for example not elaborating on the situation here where the are dozens of defects.

I'm genuinly curious, where have the customer service personnel gone? If they still exist, what does their job entail if they are not doing customer service?

Not sure where you received a quote for $300. This is a complete replacement of the bezel and all of the components attached to it (FPR, Power switch, colorimeter). If you don't have the colorimeter, then there is a different part for less money.

Strangely, the P50 part without the colorimeter shows:

00UR828  UPPER CASE $307.00

That's what i thought too. But, 00UR828 FPR upper case without colorimeter costs $307 for some reason.

OK,then just get the one with the colorimeter! It will attach, BTW, to the system board.

No doubt one of those prices is very wrong.  And if you buy either part now, it will probably be the same flawed product as your original.  We just don't know.  Because Lenovo won't give us any details.

Even calculating in "bureaucracy time", this has gone on way too long.  This problem first appeared here 10 months ago.  Lenovo finally gave it some serious attention in this forum 5 months ago.  The cause of the problem was discovered 2 months ago.  And yet general support has not been told to acknowledge this when customers call.  Really?

I was wondering about the same thing. They still chose to ignore after so many complains. As for buying the part, I don't wanna shell out 130 bucks every 4 months for my laptop when the problem is with the manufacturer. I'll consider buying FRU, If they acknowlege the problem and come up with an updated part.
