How old is your P50? Can you post the mfg date (month/year)?

Thanks

Re: P50: Cracked Palmrest Repair

I have an identical hairline-fracture forming on the opposite side now. Between this and the yellowing that started around the border of my screen, I'm starting to have second thoughts about my purchase.

[E] Added picture, rephrased a bit. Honestly I'm thinking that it's most likely due to the keyboard being installed wrong, and there's a pretty significant gap between the bottom of the keyboard and the rest of the chassis, that's not present at the other edges.

Has anybody had any luck getting this covered by warranty?

Hello Amy,

So for new customers, when would be a good time to make a purchase to ensure we get the updated palmrest?

Thanks

Hi Amy,

It is great you have managed to determine the root cause and are solving this.

My P50 is always sitting in its workstation dock and the palmrest has not cracked at all, it looks flawless. The laptop makes some creeking sounds every 5 minutes or so when powered on, like tapping semi-loudly on plastic with your fingernails, but I can't localize where exactly the sound comes from.

But does the problem potentially exist in all P50 palmrest variants, or is it a limited batch run of palmrests variants? If the former, will the palmrests eventually all break by themselves in a matter of time?

I'm just wondering because I'm getting tired of looking for non-existing hairline cracks each and every day :smileyhappy:

Hello. Yes, my front cover was replaced in warranty, no troubles at all... As bonus you get clean speaker grills and brand new touchpad as it is part of front cover assembly. From my experience I do not see this as big issue as Lenovo takes care about it and laptop itself is running perfect... B-)

I received my P50 in August and so far, it's been great. No cracks present anywhere.

Should I be concerned about this?

Is there a way to identify which batch was affected? If so, is Lenovo going to create a list of impacted computers, like they do with car recalls?

Hello all. Signed up just to say that I'm really excited to get my P50 (coming soon!) and that at least we've got a documented case and will be taken care of should something happen to the bezel on ours.

Kudos to those who got around to report this as well as the team monitoring the forums and  and at least a fix is coming!

Greensystemsgo,

Well - I did ask Amy to see when should customers order new laptops to get this updated palmrest but haven't seen a response yet. So YMMV. :-)
