P50 Fingerprint & Power On Question

2016-03-18, 23:17 PM

I just received my new P50 and I don't see a way to configure it to power-on the laptop using the fingerprint reader.  Is it possible?

I can do this with my W530 Laptop, but It uses the 'Lenovo - Fingerprint Reader' utility in Control Panel.  There is no fingerprint utility in Control Panel on my P50.

Both computers are running windows 10.

Edit: When the P50 Laptop is Powered Off, the LED light is not on in the reader.  The reader is not active until I power on the laptop.  Is this normal behaviour?  With my W530 once I lift the lid, the green LED activates and allows me to swipe my finger and power on the laptop.  I'm going to be disappointed if this feature is no longer available.

Mike

It's no more. W530 was the last model where this worked, I think.

P600, thanks for the conformation and information when it was discontinued.

I'm finding it's not really an inconvenience as I first thought. Especially since this fingerprint reader works so reliably compared to the one on my W530.

This was due to the Apple purchase of Authentec? the fingerprint manufacturer. Lenovo had to switch providers and it must have been some "PATENT" bs
