Re: P52 - ELAN Touchpad driver (ETD.sys) issues (latency spikes, BSoD)

2018-12-05, 21:29 PM

I know that probably sounds weird but... I FINALLY resolved my touchpad issues! No delay or BSOD at all from three days!

For who have P52 with ELAN driver i tip you to download that driver:

ELAN driver version 16.21.23.1 Released on 24 Oct 2018
https://support.lenovo.com/it/it/downloads/ds120858

Yes, it is for ThinkPad Yoga 370 but works awesome also on Thinkpad P52!

Let me know :D

Driver  24.21.15.1 on Windows 1809 worked fine for a day for me but the touchpad lag has returned today. Unfortunate.

Same thing for me. Unfortunately just 2 days after I closed my ticket thinking that using this update driver solved the issue...

Thank you!  I was having a problem with the latest ELAN driver after it updated on a new L380 Yoga - including missing vertical scroll pointer when scrolling with the trackpoint... pointer had simply vanished after update.  This link to the slightly older driver seems to be working - touch wood!

I also have a personal p52, and have tried installing the older Elan drivers. It seems like the latency spikes are fewer and far between now, but they definitely still happen. This is somewhat infuriating, and as someone who is responsible for making purchasing decisions around developer machines for our shop, it really puts a bad taste in my mouth about using Lenovo products again. This problem (which is likely just due to garbage drivers) needs to be addressed by them. Losing individual customers may not concern them, but they should be careful when enterprise customers are not happy.

Hi all,

Do anyone have the solution for this issue yet? I follow all the suggest as above posts but no help.

For my P52 with windows 1809, i don't have BSOD issue, but have  Spikes issue. I also using latest driver form Microsoft, Driver for Lenovo Yoga but all is useless. The issue remains.

And Lenovo not release new update for Touchpad also. Very hopeless.

Hello,

i have the same issue. I post an youtube video in the German Community. In this you can see the sluggish mouse pointer. After an restart at time 02:36 is nothink to see from the sluggish  mouse pointer. I have only open Google Chrome as Software. I think the ELAN Touchpad are unusable. The Lenovo technician need a bit longer time to analys the Problem. Because this problem happened sporadically.

@jaykop Thanks for posting that video. That very clearly demonstrates the issue that many of us are having. Has the technician ackowledged that this is a problem yet?

@danejur

My laptop has been at repair since wednesday. I put this video on the desktop of my laptop for the technician. On a instruction leaflet i wrote that this video is on the desktop. The last message from the Ticket ist that the technician test it and can't find any problems. "No Fault Found The device was check and everything worked. Touchpad working properly, allow us to send unit back " :smileyfrustrated:

We need to keep this issue at the top of the forum until a Lenovo rep at leasts responds to it. It is crazy that this issue can persist on laptops as expensive as these.
