Re: P52 - ELAN Touchpad driver (ETD.sys) issues (latency spikes, BSoD)

I've been experiencing this problem since I got a P52 three months ago :(  Pretty much exactly the same issues as most of you have described.   Sending mine in for warranty repair, I'll let you guys know if it's solved.

hope it works - I've had the bezel assembly replaced (which has the touchpad hardware) - nothing.  Driver stack replaced a couple of times - nothing.  Really feels like a fundamental circuit problem that replacement won't fix or a driver issue.

Sending in for a "repair" isn't going to solve it. I sent mine in for repair when the issue first cropped up in September. They replaced the entire trackpad and bezel assembly. Nothing. Then I had the system board changed a couple months later and the issue still persists.

I think that the lags at the touchpad and bluetooth mice have the same roots.

I've been using a bluetooth mouse because the touchpad is unusuable and I've never had any problems with it.

yep, absolutely no issues using mouse.  Consistent issues using touchpad - every few hours BSOD.  Full/kernel dump ALWAYS indicates Elan.  Switching elan touchpads (hardware replacement) does not fix, switching drivers does not fix (old, new, old, new have been tried)

Interesting... I've experienced a few BSoD but not really sure if it's tied to the touchpad problems. I would really like to find out what causes the latency though, it is a serious deal breaker for a machine this expensive.

I had my motherboard replaced over a different type of BSOD (WHEA uncorrectable error) nearly two weeks ago, so far no trackpad or other BSOD, touch wood.

Hi everyone,

We are still working with ELAN about the BSOD issue in ETD.sys, and also the latency issue.  We have been making progress, but no solution yet.  Sorry for this trouble.

Glad to hear it.

Just got the P52 back from repairs. Says they've replaced the non-touch display and palmrest assembly with the touch pad. So far so good, going to put it through the paces and let yall know if the problem crops up again.
