Re: P53 Problems

2019-11-11, 5:47 AM
I just received my P53 oled and i notice very thin uniform horizontal lines at the screen. This is first thing i notice during startup when red lenovo logo appears. Lines much noticeable at lighter color. I do not know if it is touch screen matrix but it is very annoying and honestly ruin my first oled experience.
Also chassis does not sit well on flat surface one corner always lifted little and its wobble when press with my wrist.
Lastly crackling sound coming from left hinge while closing the lid at 60-70 degree.

The fine lines on the OLED screen are visible on my OLED panel usually when there is a 100% white background on a webpage or similar window. I don't see them as much when I am using the system at a normal viewing distance, but they are still there. I believe that it is a limitation of the touch panel to have some interference of the overlay on the image. The tradeoff with an  IPS LCD panel is that the surface is matte and the text is not as clear as on a glossy screen.

I received mine yesterday evening. I was so excited while i press power button to see long waited famous oled display but when red lenovo logo appear lines are very noticeable. I switch to dark mode but whenever i have window with lighter color lines are there even from normal seating distance and lowered brightness. I feel big disappointment about screen and bend chassis issue and cracking noise from hinge. I shut down laptop and i asleep. After work i will re-check today hopefully my eyes will be more merciful. I will try to catch some photo if possible.

I'm not disagreeing with your observation on the display. My previous system with OLED panel (X1YogaGen2) had no lines on the multiouch display. I too was surprised as to the lines/dots on the panel, but I believe that this is the state of the current technology from Samsung. Other people have noted the lines, but they are not a defect of the panel. The OLED display has a really rich color gamut, looks great with videos, true black levels vs an IPS panel with leaky backlight areas. If you want a touch screen the OLED display is your only choice right now.

our company just purchased a bunch of p53 laptops and this one i got somehow has a warped base/case or something since it doesn't sit flat on any flat surface. One corner is higher it seems so the entire thing wobbles. For something that costs 3K+, i expected better quality. not sure what can be done with this.

FYI, another person previously reported that if they loosened the screws for the keyboard bezel and then retightened them again that the unit would then sit flat. It's possible that this could help in your situation.

Actually my issue turned out to be an issue with the desk LOL. No issue with the laptop, try it on another surface.
