Yes.  I discovered this problem at the end of last August.  I spent a lot of time troubleshooting this issue.  I think I've tried everything more than once.

Although I don't believe I've tried setting BIOS defaults with this latest BIOS 1.31 so I will try that just to eliminate that possibility.

That WORKED!  I have the Options menu back!

I am so glad you suggested that.  I had already written that off as 'tried and failed' and wouldn't have revisited it.

Thanks!

Super! Setting things back to default resets the user defined data areas.

I, too, have now had success resolving this anomaly on my P70 by doing the "reset BIOS to defaults", although the first time I did it I simply then proceeded to re-customize... and it did NOT solve the problem.

I then tried it again, this time doing an immediate SAVE+EXIT after resetting to BIOS defaults. Then I re-booted, and then I re-customized with SAVE+EXIT at the end.

And after this second attempt, now I was once again getting the startup interrupt menu as expected from pressing ENTER.

Clearly this was a Lenovo BIOS bug, triggered perhaps by some leftover data somewhere from some earlier BIOS version (as I've come up through them all since day #1 and have never before had to reset to BIOS defaults to eliminate some anomaly).  But as you suggested, it obviously was cleared and initialized as necessary by the resetting to BIOS defaults.

Thank you VERY MUCH for this suggestion.

Whatever the explanation,

My question too- Does the BIOS permit booting with the 2400-speed RAM?
