P70 - External monitor colour shows red as purple when docked.

2020-08-20, 7:30 AM

Hi,

I have a very odd problem which I'm in need of guidance on.

Whenever I connect my laptop to my docking station, and then an ext monitor to the docking station, the reds come out purple, other colours come out green, and so on...messed up. However, if I connect the cable in directly to the laptop (whilst still docked), the colours are perfect.

I've tried different cables and different connection types, HDMI, DisplayPort and the DVI and exhibit the same behaviour - works OK when connected directly to the Laptop, not when connected to the dock. So I thought there was something up with the docking station.

Because of COVID-19, I've not been into the office (which also has a docking station), so I took a trip there to check - exactly the same problem. This got me thinking its something about the laptop at fault.

The problem started when I switch the screen resolution on my laptop from 3880x1440  to 1920x1080 for a demo but I've switched it back but I still have the problem.

Ultimately I get around the problem by docking the laptop and connecting the HDMI cable directly to it, but would rather fix the problem properly.

Thanks

David
