P70: Touchpad jumpy for small movements

2016-12-24, 19:33 PM

The touchpad in my P70 works really well for the most part but when I make minute/fine adjustments the mouse movement is rather jump. It woudl basically ignore small amounts of movement and all of a sudden jump in the direction I am moving.

Any way to make the mouse movement more precise and not so jumpy?

You can try adjusting several  TouchPad parameters by going to:

Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Mouse (under Devices and Printers) > Thinkpad > Settings

Then, play with the different options on the General, Scroll and Advanced settings tabs:

Re: P70: Touchpad jumpy for small movements

I otherwise love my P70 but this mouse pointer issue is completely driving me nuts. When I use Visual Studio and Affinity Designer at 4K, I oftentimes need to make precise mouse movements but something in this laptop is causing the mouse pointer to behave erratically. It is is jump/laggy/erratic.

If I try to make a small mouse movement, it will not register any movement at all, and then all of a sudden the mouse pointer just jumps to a location many pixels away. It is almost impossible to make small/precise mouse pointer movements and this is so frustrating.

And yes, I have played with all the settings available in both Windows and Synaptics control Panel.

What am I missing? I really need te mouse pointer to be stable for precise movements. No one else is having this issue?

So am I really the only person whose mouse pointer is sticky/laggy for very small mouse movements?

Yep same problem here!

On every other trackpad i've used, i can sort of rock my finger on it to make pixel by pixel movement.

But on my T460s, if i do this, the cursor won't move for a bit and then instantly jump like 20 pixels away.

Same problem on Windows and Ubuntu, I guess it's a hardware issue.

The touchpad on my t460s suffers from the same problem...

I've been praying for a driver update which fixes this issue for months.
