Tried that but no change. The installed NVM Firmware Version is still 46.

No change! The firmware update looks like it is working, gets to 100% pauses for a second then goes to a 'Not Responding' for a second the crashes, it does not go to 'Done' and never tells you to reboot.

P71 (Quadro P5000) experiencing similar issue as well after firmware update yesterday - lost ability to display in 4K for external monitor.  Laptop screen still displays in 4k, but external monitor max resolution option is 1920x1080.  Have tried two different 4k monitors and multiple hdmi cables.  Updated drivers for both monitors just to be sure, and still the problem remains.

Absolutely need a fix for this ASAP!  Thanks.

I believe that the FW update caused the total HDMI capability to be deleted, replaced by DVI. DVI can not carry audio. Also, DVI can not carry 2160x3840 Video, therefor no 4K. The HDMI port is seen as a suitable path for DVI however.

Lost all my 4K options - the monitor is 4K (works great on an older desktop), was working before the Thunderbolt update.  Now - I get 1920 max.  Got a 6 GB P3000 and it's basically unused because of this borked update.  I did try the V43 linked earlier - no change at all.  I bet the installer doesn't actually install if there's a newer version installed.

Lenovo - PLEASE FIX THIS ROLLOUT!  You busted a lot of machines with this release...

Re:P71 Lost HDMI Audio w/Latest Thunderbolt Firmware

On the phone again, since my laptop warranty expired in March of this year they cancelled my ticket and really don't want to talk to me, they want want me to pay for a warranty upgrade. Starting to sound like ransomware to me.  I'm beyond p1$$3d at this point!!!  I have asked to speak to a manager at this point and I am getting a run around about that.  I have worked for IBM/Lenovo business partners for 20 years and have been an IBM/Lenovo customer for the last 10+ years, purchasing laptops, servers and SAN's.

THIS IS BY FAR THE WORSE SUPPORT EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD IN MY 30+ YEARS OF DEALING WITH IBM/LENOVO!

They are opening another case to get 'Sent over' whatever that means to get escalated.

20 minutes later.....

I have an escalation case number and someone should call me back in the next 24 hours....again.  (heard this yesterday but was not given an escalation case number so maybe this is progress)

WORK AROUND: I purchased the adapter :

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08KXND4Y1/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I installed the adapter: Connected one end into a Thunderbolt Port, The other into the HDMI Cable connected to the Sony TV.

Appears to restore the functions that we are looking for.

1) The sound is restored to the HDMI cable going to the TV.

2) The Resolution selection in the Nvidia Control Panel now includes the high resolutions including 4K.

The Nvidia Control Panel lists the Port as a "DISPLAY PORT"

I consider this as a temporary fix. Lenovo Must come up with a solution fast!

Does this work with a type A to type C adapter?  My P71 only has type A ports.

I guess I could buy it and see if it works with an adapter.  Of course, if Lenovo didn't break functionality in the first place...
