Part no. 4XB0N10300 SSD for P50/P51 - Samsung equivalent part no. ?

2017-08-01, 14:27 PM

Hi there,

I've been searching and searching, and couldn't find any information on this. What is the 512 GB Samsung part that I receive, when I order the Lenovo part number "4XB0N10300" for my P50? Is it PM961? If not, what would be the correct Lenovo part number to go by in order to obtain the PM961?

Thank you in advance!

Your could put your full machine model in parts lookup to narrow down the exact part.

Thanks - the 00UP450 seems to be identical to 00UP437, i.e. PM961. The 00UP440 seems to be SM961.

I can't however find any place to buy these by part number - only pulls from working machines on ebay etc. What I do see are plenty of places to buy for example "4XB0N10300" that I would still hope someone could confirm what actually is.

The other 4x part number may be the same part??

Check:

https://www.encompassparts.com/item/10939297/Lenovo/00UP450/Ssd_Asm_512g,m.2,2280,pcie3x4,

and

https://www.encompassparts.com/item/10940728/Lenovo/00UP440/512g,m.2,2280,pcie3x4,samsg,op

Your 4x part is not the FRU part.

Thanks for the links. Yes, I know it isn't a FRU part number, maybe it is because it is a "upgrade kit" and not a replacement part. I actually found a picture of the box and the SSD itself, so it must be PM961: https://www.campuspoint.de/lenovo-4xb0n10300.html

But that 1 year warranty really is unacceptable. And the fact that it is TLC and not MLC also annoys me a bit.... Aargh!!

Does Lenovo supply the SM961 (MLC) in any of their laptops?

Found this image:

The 00UP440 is the SM961... but apparently as rare and hard to find as hen's teeth!

I assume a non-Lenovo branded SM961 won't support the power management features that Amy from Lenovo has previously mentioned being unavaiable with retail packaged drives. Hmm.

00UP440 seems to be the correct part.

Read this article:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/samsung-sm961-ssd,4608.html

Maybe Ramcity has this part or an equal.

Thanks, makes me even more eager on obtaining the SM961. Buying from Ramcity would mean added taxes and gets complicated if something is wrong with the product. Besides, I couldn't see they could source the Lenovo branded SM961, aka 00UP440.

So anyone knows if a regular, non-Lenovo branded SM961 will support Lenovo's claimed drive management features?
