Questions about RAID Controller Driver Version Different than RAID Option ROM Version

2013-01-28, 4:27 AM

Two Questions about the statement below:

1.  Will the versions being different cause a problem?

2.  Is there a safe way to get the W700ds RAID ROM version up-to-date?

My W700ds has Intel RST driver version 11.6.0.1030 installed but the latest RAID option ROM version from Lenovo is 8.9.1.1003.

Are you having some issue you are trying to resolve?  The W700ds is out of warranty?

If it isn't broken, don't brick it.

Re: Questions about RAID Controller Driver Version Different than RAID Option ROM Version

After a recent mainboard replacement it appears the only issue is that the W700ds seems to be running about 1/2 speed when opening a program for the first time.  Same hard drives, same operating system, new mainboard and new, but same model, processor.  The Intel Turbo Memory is not working and I had posted about that earlier and was told not to concern myself with that and I assume it is not working due to the later RST driver from intel being installed which may not play well with the turbo memory but I'm not sure.  I like having the later model RST raid drivers because I've also read that they may fix the problem of intermittent raid degradations I was having before with the older Lenovo provided Intel drivers for the RAID.  This is why I asked the question about the Raid Rom thinking it might allow me to at least try the Turbo Memory with the later RST drivers and see if that will speed up the computer.

The W700ds is still in warranty, onsite, but I call Lenovo as a last resort due to the fact that they are only responsible for hardware issues and not set up issues.
