Reinstall Win 7-64 on C and D drive disappears

2011-07-30, 5:39 AM

On my W700 I reformatted the C  (zero) hdd and reinstalled win 7-64.  The D  (1) drive then disappeared from "computer" and windows explorer.  However, it is still in Device manager . I reset BIOS to default.  In device manager I deleted the D drive driver and rebooted and it reinstalled itsself.  Hweverit to Windows it's still invisible and unusable.

How can I "see" the D drive again in computer ir explorer so I can use it?

hey GatorBob

i believe that C & D , are two separate HardDrives ?

the reinstallation of Win7-64x was it via the Rescue&Recovery or was it using your own disc ?

Have your tried formatting the "D" ?

What happen if the "D"(with the OS installed on "D") became primary and "C" became primary?

The drive/partition may not have been given a drive letter. In the Administrative Tools section in the Control Panel, open up Computer Management and go to Disk Management. You should be able to right click on it and give it a drive letter.
