Replace Snipping Tool and behaviour of PrtSc key

2019-04-08, 11:42 AM

Hi,

I have problem with P52 but suppose is related to all models with Win10 and PrtSc button.

I would like to replace Snipping tool with Greenshot which is more usefull for me. Unfortunatelly I'm not able to find such option. I was able to disable Snipping Tool:

and I thought I would be able to use PrcSc key and Fn+PrtSc in Greenshot configuration, but it seems it is still trying to launch Snipping tool, which is blocked and I'm getting window which says Snipping tool was disabled...

Any ideas how this could be modified?

Many thanks and regards,

Maciej

think you will need a 3rd party remapping software to change the function of the keys
Thx dave

Ive had a similar question. Looks like this was answered 1.5 yrs ago. Any idea if it has changed since then? I'd really like to do away with the native snip tool so I can use Snagit instead. I can live with FN+PrtScrn, but I'd much rather be able to do it with just PrtScrn because I use it a lot.

Hello,

Have you tried a third-party remapping program like @caveman31 suggested, such as AutoHotkey?

Hi,

I've used SharpKey program to remap PRTSCR (E037) to Menu Button (Application (E0_5D)) like in older/other keyboards, and set Ctrl+Menu Button as PrtScreen in Greenshot :)

But it's a shame that this key is not configurable - you can replace Fn/Left Ctrl in BIOS because it is in that way in some other laptops, while you get PrtSc in place of Menu Button and no one cares...

Regards,

Maciej
