"ThinkPad P1 Gen 2: a Beauty AND a Beast" - a review by Z!

2021-01-30, 22:04 PM

In late 2019, I was fortunate to receive a ThinkPad gen2 P1 for review.

Unfortunately, shortly after that (and ever since) we have all been challenged with the COVID-19 pandemic. For many of us, it has been especially challenging. Working new roles and longer hours... all while trying to stay safe for our families, our friends & colleagues, and our communities. This left me no time to do justice to this P1.

So, I decided to find this beauty (& beast) of a machine a new home. The rest is history, and justice has been done by my friend, colleague, and fellow moderator, @zoltanthegypsy. 😊

Please check out his in-depth review and write-up! Great all around, and especially interesting for folks keen on 'nix on ThinkPads! 😎

Please be safe and healthy, everyone!

Is the carbon fibre look a sticker you can remove?

From the PSREF page - https://psref.lenovo.com/Product/ThinkPad/ThinkPad_P1_2nd_Gen:

Case Material:  CFRP + GFRP hybrid (top), Aluminium alloy (bottom)

So it actually is at least in part carbon fiber.  Not removable. I'll change the description in the article ;)
