Thinkpad P1 workstation screen damage

2020-03-03, 5:49 AM

Today I found out my the LCD panel of my laptop came off and was damaged when I kept it safe and secure in my bag.

The customer support told me the replacement fee would be around $1100 (including labour) and is not included in the warranty which is so ridiculously expensive so I want to replace it myself.

Only the glass of the LCD is damaged (cracked screen) but the colours seem OK.

Is there any way I can order the part myself and replace it? (not the whole lcd panel just the damaged part)

First, allow me to clarify that the support did nothing wrong in this case. Damaged screens are not covered by warranty most of the time (this includes devices from other brands). I would suggest you bring your laptop to a 3rd party local store and ask the technician to fix it for you.
