Thinkpad P70 blank display at Hybrid Graphics Disabled

2017-06-15, 20:47 PM

Hello Lenovo Community,

when I changed the setting "Hybrid Graphics" to Disabled, I have blank screen (not bootlogo image) and as a consequence I can't enter to BIOS and change it back.

Image is missing until Windows starts.

dGPU M600M

BIOS v.2.15

Best regards

Hi

Have you tried connecting an external monitor and then powering up?

Tried to connect to monitor via HDMI.

Result is the same. The image appears only after Windows starts.

And another feature: I can connect only one display at the same time. Or internal display, or HDMI display.

Hi

If you try constantly tapping F1 as soon as you have powered on at least until windows loads - that might get you into the BIOS screen.  If you get into the BIOS check the value for Boot display device - it should be Thinkpad LCD

Hi

This is the first thing I did.
The screen is blank in BIOS-setup, too.

Sorry, can't offer any other advice then - hopefully someone from Lenovo jumps in and tells you what to do.  Hope you get it fixed soon.

... no LENOVO Support on the site?

I found method how to reset BIOS settings to default without access to BIOS.

Disconnect the ac power from the computer and turn off the computer, then Remove all components such as:

- battery;

- all of HDD/SSD/ODD;

- all of WAN/WWAN modules;

- memory modules;

- coin-cell battery.

.. connect ac power, computer will starts and beep 1-3-3-1 (DIMM fault). Turn off the computer and disconnect ac power. BIOS settings is default.

Now install all removed components.

Turn on the computer. After it 2-3 times restarts enter to BIOS-setup to set date/time.

 .. or press F1 while power-on, wait BIOS-setup load, then press F9 -> Enter -> F10 -> Enter. After computer restarts BIOS settings must be default.

Try to roll back BIOS to the version 2.13... no result: screen blank on POST on discrete graphics.

Then flash BIOS to the version 2.14... same result.

Now all drivers and firmware are last version (BIOS v2.15).

Does anyone have a solution?
