Thinkpad W530 won't boot

2020-09-04, 19:04 PM

Hi, I am going to turn on my levono thinkpad W530 but it does not start. The battery and the power supply work perfectly.

When I press the button to turn it on, it turns on. The leds light up then go out, the hard drive indicator light comes on and then goes out, but the hard drive is still running. When I plug in my mouse, it turns on and works. Also I forgot to say that the led of the button to turn on the pc remains on. I have the impression that the PC is in a prolonged standby state but it does not want to come out of this state.

Can you help me please please please !!! It will be very cool :(

Bad memory or a bad hard drive can cause these symptoms.  I would try to boot in the BIOS and see if it will start after removing the drive.  Then, if you have more than one memory stick, try them one at a time.

Hello,

Have you tried removing the batteries and AC power adapter in addition to the drives, letting it sit for a few minutes without use, and then plug just the AC power adapter in and try turning it on?

At that point, it should power up with a warning about CMOS settings for the date and time being corrupt and/or missing any boot drives.  If not, I would suspect a motherboard failure of some kind.
