I have the same problem with my ThinkPad P53.

rehsd's advice has helped me too - I disabled 1 of the 3 "Intel USB 3.1 eXtensible Host Controller".

Nearly seven months later and still no proper fix from Lenovo on this. Disappointed.

I write to make a contribution.
This solution also works on the THINKPAD P73.
Big disappointment from Lenovo which does nothing to fix.
They ask to send the PC to their lab without motivation.

Unfortunately, the FAQ states:

"These communities have been created to provide a high quality atmosphere in which users of Lenovo products and services may share experiences and expertise. While members from Lenovo may participate at intervals to engage in the discussions and offer advice and suggestions, this forum is not designed as a dedicated and staffed support channel."

Understood... this is a user community, and not a formal support channel. My expressed concern is that Lenovo has failed to address this issue in over half a year. That's independent of this forum.

I have the same issue in my Lenovo P73. Called the Tech Support they don't know what is going on. They just asked me to send laptop for repair. So disappointed.

Re:USB Hub & Host Controller cycling after using Vantage

Hello,

I do not have a ThinkPad P73 myself, but I did note that Lenovo recently released Commercial Vantage, which can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/commercial-vantage/9nr5b8gvvm13?activetab=pivot:overviewtab.  Have you tried using that version of the software instead of the "regular" Lenovo Vantage app?  If so, did that make any difference?

Re:USB Hub & Host Controller cycling after using Vantage

2021-04-05, 0:23 AM

I see the same thing on my X1E Gen 3. I think it started when they put out a new thunderbolt firmware on 3/23, but I am not certain. I would guess maybe the new firmware check (for this laptop anyway) is triggering the problem.

The workaround listed above to uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" for each of the host controllers seems to stop it.

Before I found this thread and did that I enabled the logging in the Event Viewer at Applications and Service Logs>Microsoft>Windows>DriverFrameworks-UserMode>Operational (you need to right click Operational and check off Enable Logging or you won't see anything), and when the problem is triggered I see constant power operations like:

"Forwarded a finished Pnp or Power operation (22, 0) to the lower driver for device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15EB&SUBSYS_22C017AA&REV_06\33884479E4C9A00000 with status 0xC00000BB."

Once I narrowed it down to Lenovo Vantage a google search brought me to this thread and the workaround.
