VR, is anyone using it?

2019-03-09, 19:19 PM

Has anyone experienced or looked into the VR capabilities of the P series?

Esp. if anyone’s using it for practical / work reasons not just gaming and entertainment.

I work as a architect in Norway and we use VR a lot.

Unfortunatly my P53 with the Nvidia RTX 3000 can't run any VR stuff, even if nvidia says the rtx 3000 chip is vr ready. I only get 40 FPS instead of 90 FPS wich is required to make VR comfortable. Quite disapointed about that. So for now I'm stuck using 5y old desktop computers with gamingcards whenever VR is used.

For a belated Christmas present to myself (and family), I got the Oculus Rift S to see if the P72 is actually VR worthy.

We've only had about 2 sessions with it, headset to the P72 and then cast on to the TV for others to see and I'm quite impressed.  Some ISS, Google Earth and shoot 'em up kind of things which the Quadro 4200 performed very well.

Finally getting some return for that video card bumping up the price of the laptop by £1-1.5k..3
