Vantage proposes to install items already installed with the same version

2020-09-14, 12:45 PM

Running System Update in Lenovo Vantage on my P53 shows as available updates:

Intel Management Engine Software Driver (Windows 10 Version 1709 or Later) - 10 [64] as critical update and Dolby Vision Provisioning Package - 10 [64] as recommended update.

Immediately after installing them and rebooting I run again System Update and it proposes exactly the same two items in the same version.

The full history below says:

Intel Management Engine Software Driver (Windows 10 Version 1709 or Later) - 10 [64] - 2013.14.0.1529

Successfully installed: 9/14/2020 1:58 PM

and

Dolby Vision Provisioning Package - 10 [64] - 1.0

Successfully installed: 9/8/2020 9:52 AM

Clicking on the (?) button says for the first one "Installed version: not available" and for the second one "Installed version: not installed".

Installing them again does not changes anything.

How can I stop this crazy behavior?

Thanks for looking!

mario

What version of Windows 10 do you have installed?

I have the identical problem with my P53, which has been going on for about 10 days. Vantage keeps thinking the update needs to be installed, it installs, but the next check for updates continues to show it as needed. Have reinstalled at least four times. Status never changes. Vantage insists the update is still needed.

My Windows 10 Pro build is 10.0.19041. Vantage screenshot attached.

Thank you for looking into a fix for this error.

I believe we have fixed the Intel Management Engine problem.  Please check it again tomorrow and let me know (it can take up to 24 hours for our server to be updated).  The latest version is already installed but there was a mistake in how Vantage was checking it which made Vantage offer to install it again.

For the Dolby Vision Provisioning Package, we are still investigating that one.

Sorry for this trouble.

I ran the update tonight and Vantage tells me that the software was successfully installed.  Yet the critical update for this same thing persists.

Do I need to wait a few days and try again to see if the nagging goes away?

Is anyone still having this problem with Dolby Vision Provisioning Package - 10 [64] ?  If so, can you please check in the registry at the following location and let me know what you see?  You could either describe what you see, or post a screenshot.  Thanks so much!

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Lenovo Provisioning for Dolby Vision_is1
