A lot of people is waiting for this product so give me good news and tell me that you are producing the w400.

Welcome to the forum.

If you want a 14 inch model buy a T400. The W500 has a slightly better graphics chip as the T500 which shouldn't be a problem for you unless you're a hardcore graphics rendering expert.

Just because you want a laptop that fits your requirements doesn't mean that Lenovo have to build it. and to be honest with you I think it's a strange and impolite way to introduce yourself to the forum. There're laptops for everyones needs. So buy them or don't. It's that easy.

I take it you haven't tried this method when it comes to buying a car?

Anyway I hope you find the right laptop for you and have a good time here.

Cheers

The W500 runs pretty hot under load (though not as hot as the T61p), but given that the 14.1 is more for portability than for speed, i guess the likely hood of getting a W400 is pretty slim.

The T61p use to have a 14.1 inch format, but it wasn't really using the same GPU as the 15.4 inch T61p.

 Jch,

That would be the laptop holly grail.

I tried to find that myself.

You may find however, that the T400 is what you want (or at least, what you can get).

You see, there's actually very little difference between T500 and W500, it's only different configuration options and a different graphics driver (questionably better for OpenGL). Same basic hardware.

So, if there were a W400, it would be almost the same as the T400, just with a different graphics driver.

Of course, the T400 has a less powerful card than the W500, but that's the consequence of going under 15.4".

You'll find that all cards available right now in under 15.4" laptops have GPUs in the range of 150-180 million transistors.

More transistors would mean more power, but also, at current technology, more heat generation and power draw.

I had to settle for the 15.4" for that and the 1920x1200 screen.

I often regret not having bought the T400, and also often regret not having bought a 17" laptop with a really powerful graphics card.

Yes i am thinking to buy a T400 or W500

I have to see in real the different of size and screen display.

In fact i was tell me that i never play on video game so perhaps a good graphic card is not really necessary for me.

I just like to have enough powerfull when i would like to play on games.

So with a T400 will be powerfull enough to run Vista and Adobe suite ? I don't want a slow pc on this software.

Thanks for your replies ;)

Maybe you don't even need the discrete card then.

This Intel card is way faster than the previous ones. It can do quake3 based games at 1920x1200 at 40 to 60 frames per second.

And is well supported on Linux. And burns little power.

The T400 is just as fast to run Vista and the Adobe suite as any other Centrino 2 notebook.

In my opinion, fast enough.

Most of the differences will be on the choice of hard disk.

Just be sure to choose a notebook of the size that suits you and with all the port and features you need.

Also, beware that one of the advantages of the T400, the LED backlight screen, seems to be hard to get here in Europe. When I looked into it they were charging well over 2k for it.
