W500 BIOS v1.19 Bootable Disk has error!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2008-12-15, 3:21 AM

6fuj06uc.iso

MD5:5077F03E953706EEF53D096C2A9102A3

I downloaded it 8 times from http and ftp using flashget , ie, firefox.......... 8 times I got the same MD5 hashcode.

But when I burn it on CD and Flash, I always got same error: file damaged XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.

I have tried Nero, UltraISO and InfraRecorder0.461_x64.

So I am sure that Lenovo made a STUPID STUPID mistake again!!!

welcome to the forum!

where are you downloading the ISO?   lenovo doesn't give out MD5 hashes with their download so it sounds like you're getting it from a torrent site.   if that's the case there's no way to guarantee the ISO's validity.

try getting it direct from lenovo instead: ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/6fuj06uc.iso

I downloaded the file from official site.

Hashcode is generated by HashTab 2.11 to find out I/O error. When download complete I check the hashcode, every time I got the same MD5 hashcode "5077F03E953706EEF53D096C2A9102A3" ,so there is no I/O error during download.

I burn the ISO image on 2 computers , but it doesn't work.

I got a error info with red background and white text on right-down coner which said "program file is damaged ..........".

That drive me crazy...

try using an 8x or slower CD-R.   also try burning it with isorecorder.

i'm not sure what else to recommend besides the .exe version, although it won't work with 64-bit OSes.

I can not offer another suggests, other than to affirm I too downloaded the 1.19 image ( Dec 15/08) and use imgburn which resulted in a good bootable CD and Bios Upgrade for me.

It is the software you are using:

I tried using windows based cd writing software and the disk wouldn't boot. I am sure someone has a recipe or software recomendation that works in windows, but I gave up.

using k3b in openbsd (or linux) worked.
