W500 Intel video card issue on Windows 7

2010-07-11, 4:04 AM

Hi all,

I installed windows 7 on my w500 (it was Vista when I bought it back to a year ago).

and I have latest updates installed including intel's graphic driver.

but the the screen mess up. this problem occurs only when I use Aero themes, and if I use the discrete ATI  video card it has no problem too.

I have tried to change the refresh rate between 50hz and 60hz, color depth between 16bits and 32bits,  still no way to fix the problem.

anyone has idea about this issue?

this solution should help you out.

Basically you would need to do Option 1 and 2 or Option 1 and 3

Option 1: Disable Virtualization Technology for Directed-IO (VT-d). This can be done in the BIOS setup utility. When the system is first booting (during POST), press F1 to enter the setup utility. Then enter the Config menu, and the CPU submenu. Change VT-d to disabled.

Option 2: Make sure that there is only one memory DIMM in the system.

Option 3: Make sure that the two memory DIMMs in the system are of equal size. For example, both are 2GB.
