Re: W500 WUXGA screen dim at bottom right corner

If that is indeed normal for W700 (has two CCFL tube - and you seem or tear apart W700 screen before), then would you recommend sending out to check or simply ask to cancel the request?

I was going to let then tighten up the wobby numericpad and did some minor tweak alone with the service.  I could also tell them to first check if other screens are having the same dimness overthere before they attemp to replace it.

Let me know if you feel that is not worth it to send it back.

I had the same problem ten months ago, but surprisingly, the problem was disappeared when I decided to bring the laptop to maintainance.

The below URLs clearly show that the dim at the bottom right corner is not  a normal phenomenon. In these two photos, I had set both of the screen brightness to 50 and they were taken in different days (which implies that there are some days the screen works completely fine and some days the dim right corner appeares).

Its hard to see from your picture since the camera angle is limited and make all 4 corner dark regardless.

For my case the remaining three corner is as bright as the center while only the bottom right corner is slighly dim.

They got it at 6th morning, start fixing it around 10, and able to fix it and ship it out same day late evening - too fast?

Does anyone had experience that it took only a day for changing screen and tweaking keyboards?

It might be that the service centre is really efficient. Please report the outcome once you have your machine back!

Re: W500 WUXGA screen dim at bottom right corner

Hello:

Just an update:  the impression I got from this service is that the service is (1) Fast and (2) Reliable, there's nothing serious wrong or exceptionally right, but (3) Quality was not so impressive.

In general if you have a laptop for awhile and does not mind much cosmetic issue associate with the service, its service is very good.  They also do all the firmware/bios update for you and will do a simple machine hardware check.

If you have laptop on your hand less in 3 week then some people may not feel satisfy with the cosmetic damage.

Basically this service I will give it a 7.5 out of 10:

(1) They fix the screen, but did not put it back with precision so there's some light leak at the bottom edge of the LCD, from the CCFL tube (easy fix, but they could have done that in the repair center)

(2) They do not service additional request written on the EasyServ note

(3) Minor cosmetic issues - screw covers (stickers) bent and cannot stay put (did not replace), fingerprint all over place, screw head wear out (did not replace), etc.  (note that warranty does not cover these)

FYI: if you ever need service make sure you tell them everything over phone - some service representative think you can wrote additional request on EasyServ but apparantly that's not the case.

I would say yes - barely see the dim corner to the naked eye compare to old one.  However it may also proof that the place is indeed CCFL tube ending so a level of dimness is possible depends on the precision of the tube.

The light leak I got from service is magnitude worse than dim corner if you care to know.
