W500 graphics card upgradeable?

2008-10-23, 9:01 AM

Don't be mistaken, I like the ATI, I think it is a good choice considering switchable graphics and the performance per watt of the card itself. It would be stupid to consider the W500 otherwise.

However, one does sometimes have problems with graphics cards and drivers. I would feel my investment was safer if I knew that if I ran into trouble with this card I could install an nvidia card.

Is the card on the W500 upgradeable, even if in theory? Is it a daughterboard, maybe MXM, or is it on the mainboard?

Thank you,

W500 4062-2XG Gentoo Linux 64

no your card isn´t upgradeable. It´s soldered on your mobo.

You can use a docking station, if you want to use an external card.
