W510 thermal pad thickness

2018-04-19, 16:42 PM

Quick question, I have a W510. and I want to know what thickness of the thermal pad that makes contact with the chips around the CPU / GPU needs to be?

Thank you in advance.

I ordered an assortment of different thickness pads from eBay, or Amazon a while back - They were relatively inexpensive. You might try just getting a few different ones and see what will fit best. If you have computers, you can always find use for thermal pads - and they dont go bad. But for a GPU, or a CPU - i don't think thermal pads are advisable, you should probably use some thermal grease, and install the heatsink directly to the bga or ziff chip itself.. I used thermal pads on ram, and M.2 NVME drives, but thats only because a dedicated heatsink with a fan wouldn't fit in the space. I would have much preferred a heatsink and fan to the thermal pad if space wasn't an issue.
