Re: W530 SSD and Memory help needed for high performance systems.

Thanks guys for all the info. The processor that i've chosen is the Intel Core i7-3820QM which i'm sure is a quad core (Correct me if i'm wrong) so that should support 32MB of RAM.

I'm loving the Thinkpad already, it's amazing why I never bought one. And of course it's nice to have a community support like this to ask questions before taking the plung.

Oh Absolutely. These laptops are going to go through some serious torture tests on the road on the back of motorcycles and it'll be interesting to see how well they fair. Now it's just a waiting time until I receive the first machine :)

Thanks again for all the helps.

I order a 32G mSATA SSD and installed by myself. The start up time is reduced to around 20-30 seconds now. The SSD is used as disk cache only. You can find it here. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148610

By the way, I installed 16G (2x8G) of Corsair Vengeance RAM. Do not mix them with the original RAM otherwise the memory speed is reduced to 667Mhz instead of 800Mhz.

Thanks fo the tip. I was thinking of getting 32GB of RAM but Win 7 Home Premium only supports up to 16GB and 16GB is already is a huge step up from our current setup so we'll stick to 16GB. I was also thinking of leaving the original 4GB inside along with the 16GB to get 20GB but i'm glad you cleared that up.
